Project Based Learning
Projects are designed to increase student engagement, providing a range of knowledge that interests the student and covers essential skills and state standards for granting a diploma.
For instance, a student putting together a record album might find himself doing production planning, researching the topic or theme that is the basis of his performance (it could be teen drunk driving, managing yourself in a crisis situation or a series of historical interviews about living in the neighborhood since 1940), writing the script or lyrics, designing the CD album cover, communicating with his production team and problem solving. Every facet should be a quality learning experience that will help the student gain the knowledge and skills to go to college or find employment. The student’s Advisor helps them plan and carry out projects that will fulfill their academic and vocational goals.
