Site Plan

R.E.A.L. Prep will be located in the arts and media rich Pearl District. Located at 1440 NW Overton, our new home hosts 26,000 square feet in a 1929 historic building. With a true collaborative effort made by all parties, R.E.A.L. Prep, their sponsors and the building ownership have founded a generous partnership that will include up to 1.5 million dollars of seismic upgrades and renovations to the building, creating a state of the art facility for our students, their families and our community.

By locating in the professional business area of the Pearl District, R.E.A.L. Prep students, whose focus is on the recording, media and entertainment arts, will have access to a host of businesses aligned for partnerships, mentorships and job shadowing. R.E.A.L. Prep students will have the opportunity to explore, take ownership of, and help shape the development of a Portland neighborhood that has previously been without a public high school institution. The building is directly on the Portland Street Car line and will allow for easy transportation to and from all areas of the city.

R.E.A.L. Prep Charter Academy’s Project Director, Site Director, the R.E.A.L. Prep Development Team and the architectural firm of Fletcher Farr Ayotte, Inc. have joined forces with the building ownership, Hull Properties of Oregon, represented by Elliott Associates, Inc., Project Contractor, S.D. Deacon Corp. of Oregon and Rhiza A+D to ensure that the construction process and readying of the building for our Fall 2011 opening happens by the safest and most efficient means. We are working with the City of Portland and a local organization, the Earth Advantage Institute, to create a building that will meet the criteria for their Earth Advantage Commercial Program, a green certification for commercial buildings. In the spirit of our City’s goals, this team believes that creating an environmentally friendly building, both for our students and for Portland’s future is a paramount priority. Construction on the building begins in late June 2011.

We kindly ask our community to refrain from visiting the site during construction time and contact Tom Klein at tom@realprepcharter.orgwith any questions or for additional information.

R.E.A.L. Prep Charter Academy would also like to thank Randy Lovre and the fine people of Oregon Pacific Capital Management Corporation for their generous donation of our temporary office site. The allowance of this space has been an invaluable asset to our Development Team.
